The heritage education. Considerations about its contribution to the process of education.

Abstract

The tendency to present cultural homogenization in the XXI century, is a strong threat to the cultural identity of each people on the planet. Given the urgent need to maximize efforts in order to defend these identities, heritage with its high symbolic content, is an indispensable element to consider. The need to train individuals able to know and appreciate the different heritage assets, but above all, consciously manifest behavior consistent with the protection and sustainable use is a requirement that society has imposed on education. The Heritage Education emerges as an alternative that is inserted into the educational processes contributing positively in this endeavor. This article provides an approach to some theoretical aspects of heritage education and its strong educational potential First an approach to education as a category of Pedagogy is done, the concepts of Education and Education Process as basic elements that allow defined reflection on the educational potential inherent to the Heritage Education. considerations on the definition of this process, its objectives are also issued and emphasizes the realization of the particularities of the educational process. For this, the authors are based on the analysis of the theoretical elements of the Heritage Education in its link with the general aspects of the theory of education. Thus the particularities that define the heritage education as a process that is characterized by multifactorial, permanent, stepped, bilateral and active, in connection with the work and directed towards the future are determined. These results contribute to enrich the theoretical body of the Heritage Education, thereby permitting foster discussion among experts that explore this subject.
