Openlab Ecuador Foundation, in collaboration with the Simón Bolívar Andean University, UNESCO, and various national and international institutions, is pleased to announce the celebration of the LATAM Open Science Forum 2024.
Date: September 11-13, 2024
Location: Simón Bolívar Andean University, Quito, Ecuador
This regional meeting aims to bring together researchers, scientists, academics, students, and representatives from public and private institutions to promote open science in Latin America.
Main Objectives:
- Celebrate achievements and recognize outstanding projects in open science
- Foster collaboration among the Latin American and international scientific community
- Promote the adoption of open science practices in universities and research institutions
- Discuss challenges and opportunities for open science in the development of Latin America
The event will feature renowned international experts. Activities will include keynote speeches, expert panels, presentations, and workshops on topics such as:
- Journals and editorial policies
- Evaluation schemes and incentives
- Open infrastructures
- Citizen and participatory science
- Research data
- Inclusion and relevance in scientific production
The Forum is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, UNESCO's Recommendations on Open Science, and the Open Science Commitment of Ecuador's 2nd Open Government Action Plan.
